What to include
Your role and industry
The kinds of conversations you have most often for example one-to-ones with direct reports, peer collaboration, sales negotiations, client projects, or supplier discussions
Whether your focus is internal conversations (colleagues, your team, your manager) or external ones (clients, prospects, partners), or both
Skills you want to improve
Anything about your style or goals Ovida should keep in mind
Example profile descriptions
The more specific you are, the more relevant your feedback and roleplays will be. Here are examples at different levels of detail.
Short
I'm a sales manager in SaaS, leading a team of eight account executives. I want to get better at coaching my reps through objection handling and giving feedback that actually sticks.
Medium
I'm an HR business partner in a global manufacturing company. My conversations are mostly internal, supporting managers through difficult performance conversations, advising on restructures, and building relationships with senior stakeholders across different countries and cultures. I want to develop a more coaching-led style rather than jumping straight to advice, and get more confident holding space when conversations get emotional.
Full length
I'm a newly promoted manager in a mid-size technology consultancy, leading a team of six for the first time. Most of my conversations are internal: weekly one-to-ones with my direct reports, project planning with peers in other teams, and occasional updates to senior leadership. I'm still finding my footing as a manager. I'm good at the technical side but less confident giving constructive feedback, having career development conversations, or pushing back on unrealistic expectations from above without damaging the relationship.
Outside my team, I also work directly with clients on delivery, so I need to manage expectations, navigate scope creep, and sometimes deliver difficult news about timelines or budget. These conversations can feel high stakes.
My goals: build confidence in direct, honest feedback; get better at asking questions rather than solving problems for people; and develop a calmer, more measured style under pressure. I tend to over-explain and hedge. I'd like Ovida to challenge me on that specifically.
Not getting the scenarios you need?
If your roleplays feel too narrow or repetitive, try simplifying your profile description. Either remove it entirely, or keep it to just your role and industry and leave out the rest. This gives Ovida's AI more freedom to generate a wider range of scenarios. You can always add more detail back when you want more targeted practice.
Updating it later
Your role, focus, and goals will change over time and your profile description should change with them. You can update it whenever you like, and Ovida will adapt your feedback and roleplays to match.
